one bedroom apartment in Laajasalo
All designs, styling, material choices as well as technical drawings and electrical plans done and designed by me. Implementation and renovation done together with my spouse.
My design philosophy includes respecting the period of the apartment and awakening its soul - to peel back the layers of what has been created in the passing of time.
I always want and tend to find the best possible compromise between practicality and aesthetics - which are very important things to me. The most important thing is not how things look, but also how they feel with all the different senses. For me it's very natural to use my intuition and sensing of energy as advantage when creating spaces. Things and feelings you don't see but sense and you just know. So i use Fengshui-philosophy in my own way when creating spaces.
To me important values are authenticity and natural materials, paying attention to little details, timeless, ecological, natural, safe and non-toxic materials and furniture choices, recycling and buying used furniture or surplus materials, doing diy and fixed furnitures your own, and respecting Finnish like-no-other design heritage in both furniture and material choices. Usually less is more.
And making all that so its not making it feel high-end or exlusive.
- making it feel like home and the people living in it!

Here you can also take a look at my thesis.
In it i dig more deeply into safe and allergy-friendly material choices!
This thesis is about designing a leisure home. It focuses on the conceptual phase that was presented to the client. The thesis studies allergy-friendly material choices in building and interior designing process. It presents the design process starting from the design of the floor plan and ending to the conceptual look of the rooms including the construction drawings for the kitchen.
The client has a long background of living and working in spaces with bad air condition and mold. This work focuses on finding safe building and furniture materials. As a result, designs for a building where the client can safely live and which is as secure as possible are presented.
